​The Biscuit Factory Foundation is proud to announce a new grant scheme specifically designed for artists and makers living and working in the North East of England!
For over 20 years now we have strived to help artists of all kinds thrive doing what they do best, making things! At their pace, with no deadlines or expectations. Creative freedom. This is what the Biscuit Factory Foundations Quarterly Artist grant is all about!
The Grant will be for £1000 and be awarded to a different applicant every Quarter.

Requirements:
.Aritst’s must live/work in the North East of England
.Aged 18-99

Expectations:
Nothing! We want the grant to be available in the most flexible way possible, so no reports or check ups etc. If you’re submission is accepted, the money is yours to do with as you please, whether that be for art supplies, inspirational excursions, or just the space and creative freedom to make what you want to make!

Introduction
The Biscuit Factory Foundation is proud to support artists and makers living and working in the North East of England. This quarterly (/ biannual for musicians / performers) grant of £1000 is designed to provide creative freedom, allowing artists to use the funds however they see fit—be it for materials, studio space, travel, or simply time to focus on their craft.
We’ve designed this guide to walk you through the application process, answer common questions, and ensure that applying is as simple and stress-free as possible.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be an artist or maker in any discipline.
  • Must live or work in the North East of England.
  • Must be aged 18-99.

How to Apply
Step 1: Provide Personal Contact Information
Your application should include:
  • Full Name
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number
  • Postal Address (for residency verification if needed)
Step 2: Describe Yourself & Your Work
In 200-300 words, introduce yourself and your artistic practice. You may want to include:
  • Your background as an artist/maker.
  • The medium(s) you work with.
  • The themes or messages behind your work.
  • Your goals and aspirations.

Step 3: Explain How You Will Use the Grant
Outline how this funding will support your work. Some ideas:
  • Purchasing art materials or equipment.
  • Renting or improving studio space.
  • Attending workshops or residencies.
  • Covering living costs while focusing on your practice.






Step 4: Include Clickable Social Media & Portfolio Links
Providing online access to your work makes it easier for our team to review your application. Make sure your links are clickable and lead directly to your content.

Judging & Selection Process
What We Look For
  • A strong passion for your art or craft.
  • Clear articulation of how the grant will support your practice.
  • Evidence of artistic dedication (via portfolio, website, or social media presence).
What We DON’T Require
  • A polished or overly formal application—just be yourself!
  • Reports or progress updates if selected. Once awarded, the grant is yours to use freely.

Quarterly Deadlines
Applications are reviewed every three months, with one recipient selected per quarter for Artists and twice a year for Musicians and Performers. Keep an eye on The Biscuit Factory Foundation website for exact dates.
