Performer Funding 

The Biscuit Factory studios over the last 20 years has housed an eclectic bunch of creatives! Most of the time, blurring the lines of what traditional artist studios cater for!
From Actors to Opera Singers, Comedians to Performance artists… We’ve seen it all! And The Biscuit Factory Foundations new Grant scheme for Performers is specifically designed to help local performers!

The Grant will be for £1000 and will be awarded to a different applicant, twice a year.

Requirements:
.Performers must live/work in the North East of England
.Aged 18-99

Expectations:
Nothing! We want the grant to be available in the most flexible way possible, so no reports or check ups etc. If you’re submission is accepted, the money is yours to forward your career however you think best, whatever helps you create the art that you want to create!


The Biscuit Factory Foundation Biannual Music & Performance Grant Application Guide


Introduction
The Biscuit Factory Foundation is excited to offer a £1000 biannual grant to support musicians and performers living and working in the North East of England. This grant is designed to provide creative freedom, allowing recipients to use the funds however they see fit—be it for instruments, recording sessions, performance costs, or simply time to focus on their craft.
This grant is available twice a year, in Winter and Summer.
We’ve designed this guide to walk you through the application process, answer common questions, and ensure that applying is as simple and stress-free as possible.


Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be a musician or performer in any discipline.
  • Must live or work in the North East of England.
  • Must be aged 18-99.

How to Apply
Step 1: Provide Personal Contact Information
Your application should include:
  • Full Name
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number
  • Postal Address (for residency verification if needed)


Step 2: Describe Yourself & Your Work
In 200-300 words, introduce yourself and your creative practice. You may want to include:
  • Your background as a musician/performer.
  • The genre(s) or styles you work in.
  • Key influences or inspirations.
  • Your goals and aspirations.


Step 3: Explain How You Will Use the Grant
In 150-250 words, outline how this funding will support your work. Some ideas:
  • Purchasing or repairing instruments/equipment.
  • Covering studio recording or production costs.
  • Renting rehearsal or performance space.
  • Attending workshops, training, or travel for performances.


Step 4: Include Clickable Social Media & Portfolio Links
Providing online access to your work makes it easier for our team to review your application. Make sure your links are clickable and lead directly to your content.

Judging & Selection Process
What We Look For
  • A strong passion for your music or performance art.
  • Clear articulation of how the grant will support your craft.

What We DON’T Require
  • A polished or overly formal application—just be yourself!
  • Reports or progress updates if selected. Once awarded, the grant is yours to use freely.

Applications are reviewed twice a year:
